Hōitsu (1761-1828) was strongly influenced by the decorative artwork of Kōrin Ogata. The titles of three of Hōitsu's picture books which included pictures of flowers and (or) birds drawn in the Kōrin style (i.e., Rinpa) are shown below. Click on a title to see a book's pictures. Hōitsu also edited a picture book entitled Kōrin Hyakuzu (i.e., One Hundred Drawings by Kōrin). To see the flower-bird pictures in that book click here. To see flower-bird pictures drawn by Kōrin's younger brother - Kenzan Ogata - and later copied by Hōitsu click here. To see some of Hōitsu's paintings click here. |
